Vol Junkie takes a hard look at week two.
Grayson County (1-0) at Chilhowie (1-0)
The Warriors got the job done in the second half last week against Marion in a very intense game between hated rivals with the Brett Johnson saga right in the middle. They can now move on and quit answering questions about Brett and Marion. The D shutout the Canes and the O did just enough to get the W. As is usual for Chilhowie the D seems ahead of the O. Not sure what to make of Grayson this year, they beat Floyd in a benefit game and beat Alleghany from NC last week. I know Floyd seems down this year and I know nothing about Alleghany but the Blue Devils seem to be a formidable opponent this year and might be in the running for the MED with Fort and Galax. I don't think the Devils will have enough firepower to stop the Warriors this week. If Chilhowie can get their talented offense rolling they could do some damage.

Marion (0-1) at Northwood (0-1)
Marion has to be fuming after being shutout by Chilhowie last week and the Panthers from Saltville are just what the doctor ordered. Northwood was shutout by Galax last week and look to be in for more of the same this week. I think Marion's backs will break loose and Ethan Richardson seems to be the best of the stable. Don't expect the Panthers to get much going with a stingy Cane D that held Chilhowie down for 2 and a half quarters. Probably not much of a game here, game should be decided by early in the 2nd half.

Patrick Henry (0-1) at Abingdon (0-0)
Not much good to say about PH, they lost to Bland last week...'nuff said. Looks to be another long year for the Rebel faithful and Abingdon looks to make them their first victim of the year after the Falcons had an open week in Week 1 (makes no sense). Abingdon will probably throw the ball around as their QB Hess is back this year and he is good. Bland scored 34 on PH last week so Abingdon should be able to at least match it. This is the first in a line of tune up games for the Falcons before the rigid SWD schedule comes calling....I'll take the Birds in this one

Rural Retreat (0-1) at Floyd County (0-1)
Interesting matchup here between teams seemingly headed in different directions. RR had high hopes going into this year but lost their opener to Fort and Floyd lost big to a very good Christiansburg team but seem to be a little down this year. RR gave up a lot of points to Fort and that is a concern but they have a good running back stable. This game is hard to figure...it seems pretty even to me but I'll give the home team the advantage and say the Buffs will pull it out in the end.
Floyd County 22 Rural Retreat 20
Twin Springs (0-1) at Holston (0-1)
Well......Twin Springs is awful, they got blasted by Battle last week 35-0 and it could have been worse. Holston got beat by St. Paul and showed a lot of inexperience. I feel Coach Matlock will continue to make adjustments to improve the team throughout the year. The Cavs will make a better showing this week and get the W...they probably won't need much though against the sorry Titans.
