MARION - Ethan Richardson and the Scarlet Hurricane took an early lead in their win over the Cavaliers. Richardson had 19 points. Brenton Alford had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Nick Stiefel had 14 points and 12 assists.
Seth Davenport led the Cavaliers with 12 points, and Collin Bazyk and Tyler Smith each added 11.

 DAMASCUS, Va. --
Joey Russell is looking forward to returning to his alma mater next week, but before that happens there was a bit of important Hogoheegee District business his George Wythe basketball team had to take care of Tuesday.
Although the Maroons didn’t always look the part of the league leaders, they had enough on this evening to claim a 51-41 victory over homestanding Holston.

The high school wrestling postseason will begin to unfold at a breakneck pace today with district matches.
The three teams of the Three Rivers District will be the first to wade into peril at 6 tonight at Radford. With partial rosters the norm for Glenvar, Floyd County and the Bobcats, there will be only seven semifinal matches. Finals should start at 7 p.m.

CHILHOWIE, Va. – Patrick Henry High School junior Jaymee Copenhaver shares the same sentiments as most everybody else in the Hogoheegee District when it comes to PH star Cadence Wilmoth.
“She’s pretty unstoppable,” Copenhaver said. “I don’t know what else to say.”

Northwood 46, Rural Retreat 41
Kristin Dean scored 21 points and Tori Blevins added 11 – including a rare 3-pointer from the Panthers’ post player – as Northwood beat the Indians.
Jasmine Cressell led Rural Retreat with 11 points.
The Panthers had three players in double-digits on the boards with Mille Spence pulling down 10, Bailey Hess 12 and Blevins 14.

Reid Sturgill and Jonathan Hayden each scored 16 points as Chilhowie claimed a Hogoheegee District win over Patrick Henry.
It was the fourth straight game that Sturgill scored in double figures for Chilhowie. Dylan Thomas added 10 points for the victors.

Travis Foster tallied 17 points while Lukas Langston, Sam Hadaway and Jay Linkous each had 12 points to lead Rural Retreat to a Hogoheegee District win over Northwood.
Matt Harris led the Panthers with 11 points and nine rebounds.

DAMASCUS - Kiana Ransome scored 14 points, while Kristen Atwell led the way with 17 as the Maroons won a Hogoheegee District game.
Taylor Doss had 16 points for Holston, which cut a 12-point deficit in half in the final 2:30.

Hardy Lester scored 17 points, Isaac Baltazar added 15 and Shaquille Calfee dropped in 14 to lead George Wythe to a 75-70 non-district win over Marion on Monday.
Marion held a 56-52 lead after three quarters but the Maroons outscored the Scarlet Hurricanes in the final period 23-14 to take the win.
Austin Klug led Marion with 17 points while Ethan Richardson added 16 and Sam Lincoln 13.
