Patrick Henry’s Kelsey Weddle and Rural Retreat’s Hannah Hadaway renewed their running rivalry during Saturday’s Region C track and field championships at Radford University.

However, Hadaway collected a victory in the 100 hurdles, taking first with a time of 17.18 seconds, beating Weddle (17.48 seconds) to the finish line.
The two finished 1-2 in the same events at last year’s meet as well.

Earning runner-up finishes were Northwood’s Rachel Jean-Baptiste in the 100 (13.16 seconds) and the Rural Retreat 4x100 relay team of Shannon Coffey, Jenna Dix, Jasmine Cressel and Hadaway (52.76 seconds).
James River easily captured the girls team title, while George Wythe led the local contingent with a fourth-place showing.
