The Panthers picked up a rain-shortened Hogoheegee District victory on the strength of an early offensive outburst.

Northwood (7-6, 2-4) scored three runs in the first – highlighted by Jason Prater’s two-run homer – and then tacked on four more in the second and cruised to the win.

Josh Jennings went 2-for-3 and had two RBIs for Northwood, which was batting in the bottom of the fifth when the game was called due to rain.

Rural Retreat was undone by eight errors, while the Panthers overcame four miscues of their own on the wet night.
